Patient Safety

Our Denture Clinic Safety Measures

Ottawa South Denture Clinic is happy to announce our reopening as of June 1, 2020. We are excited to welcome you back.  We take health and safety of our patients and staff seriously. We worked tirelessly to put all the measures in place to make your visit safe and comfortable.

Below are the infection prevention and control (IPAC) measures we have in place:

Screening

  • Clients and staff are screened for COVID-19 symptoms and risk of exposure prior to and upon arrival of all appointments and each workday
  • Touchless temperature is taken and recorded for each client and staff
  • Clients and staff who feel unwell will be required to stay home / reschedule their appointment

Disinfection & Sterilization

  • Thorough cleaning and disinfection are done before and after each appointment throughout the clinic
  • Disinfection procedures of equipment and office fixtures like computers keyboards, telephones, chairs, doorknobs, and buttons that may be touched unconsciously are cleaned throughout the day
  • All mail and packages that enter our clinic will be disinfected
  • Strict sterilization protocols are in place for any non-disposable items used intraorally and implements used on dental prosthetics

Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Hand sanitizer must be used by all persons who enter the clinic. Instructions for correct use are placed throughout the clinic for client and staff use
  • Face masks will be provided and must be worn by all persons inside our clinic. Clients may bring their own mask if they choose to do so
  • Clients will be instructed to use an oral pre-rinse at the start of each appointment, before treatment starts
  • Use of electronic methods of payment (Debit, Visa, MasterCard, or e-transfer) is encouraged whenever possible, rather than by cash or cheque
  • Staff are provided with enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE), including face shields, masks and gloves
  • All staff will wear either scrubs or lab coat that will be laundered at end of every shift as well as designated a pair of “clinic shoes” to be left at and worn only in the clinic

Scheduling

  • Each appointment is scheduled with the adequate time in between appointments to avoid crossover with the next client and plenty of time to disinfect all areas
  • Clients will be asked to arrive right on time for their appointments
  • Booking of an appointment is recommended rather than walk-in
  • Early arrivals will be asked to wait in their vehicles until we are ready for their appointment

Social distancing

  • Plexiglass safety shield has been installed at our reception desk
  • Clients will be taken directly into an appointment room, rather than be asked to linger in the waiting area unless absolutely necessary
  • Friends and family should remain outside the clinic, unless you require an escort for physical or medical reasons
  • Our reception area has been reorganized to ensure adequate social distancing
  • Magazines, brochures, and business cards have been removed from the waiting area and are available upon request from the reception desk

Thank you for your cooperation during this transition. We look forward to seeing you soon!
